Inder Anand

Inder Anand is Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and the Director of the Heart Failure Program at the VA Medical Center. He received his medical degree in cardiovascular physiology from Oxford University, England as a Rhodes Scholar. After training as a clinical cardiologist in London, he returned to Chandigarh, India to join the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. He served there for 19 years before accepting a position at the University of Minnesota in 1991. His research interests include experimental and clinical heart failure, and high altitude medicine and physiology. He also runs an active research laboratory studying the cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms of heart failure.

He has authored over 220 original scientific publications, published over 250 abstracts, and presented over 600 papers at national and international meetings. He is member of the editorial board of several journals, and the associate editor of the Journal of Cardiac Failure. Dr. Anand has also been a principal investigator in over 40 clinical trials and a member of steering and end-point committees for several international clinical trials.
