Jerry L. Spivak

Jerry L. Spivak is Professor of Medicine and Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Chronic Myeloproliferative Disorders at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Dr. Spivak received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Subsequently, he was a clinical associate at the National Cancer Institute and then a senior resident in medicine at New York Hospital. Dr. Spivak returned to Johns Hopkins Hospital for fellowship training in hematology and then joined the faculty of the Hematology Division, where he served as Division Director from 1980 to 1992. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in hematology.

Dr. Spivak has received many awards over the course of his career, including a Research Career Development Award and a Merit Award from the National Institutes of Health. He is the author of over 200 scientific publications, holds numerous editorial appointments, and is frequently an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
