Lloyd P. Van Winkle is a family physician and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. A graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Medicine, he completed a family practice residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
He has been in practice in Castroville for over twenty years and also serves as medical director of the Medina Valley EMS and health officer for the City of Castroville and the City of La Coste. Dr. Van Winkle is a member and past president of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. He currently serves as one of TAFP’s two delegates to the American Academy of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates. He has served on numerous TAFP committees and commissions and currently chairs the TAFP Political Action Committee Board of Directors. On the national level, he currently serves on the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Commission on Membership and Member Services and previously was member and chair of the AAFP Committee on Communications.
