NAAC posts events relating to conferences, meetings, published research and education involving anemia and/or NAAC experts.
Drs. Jonathan Waters, Aryeh Shander*, Alina Grigore and Kenichi Tanaka will lead a luncheon panel discussion New Understanding of Hemostasis -The Balance Between Bleeding and Clotting at the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting in New Orleans, LA on October 17th from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
At this session, panel members will delve into the complex interplay between hyper and hypo-coagulable states and describe the new drugs and clotting factor preparations that may be used to treat the hemostatic imbalance in the severely bleeding patient. Genetic influences on hypercoagulability will also be discussed. Also covered will be the risk of bleeding and the cost of transfusion for the bleeding surgical patient.
