NAAC Website Receives HON Code Certification

MILWAUKEE, WI – The National Anemia Action Council (NAAC) received HONcode certification November 5th in recognition of their website (www.anemia.org) complying with all eight quality standards set forth by the Health On Net Foundation.

The Foundation established codes of conduct to help standardize the reliability and credibility of health information on the Internet. Organizations that choose to comply with these codes are then allowed to display a HONcode seal alerting visitors to the rigorous standards their websites meet.

Committed to educating patients and professionals, NAAC complies with the eight HONcode principles in publishing reliable, quality health information to improve the lives of people with anemia. Specifically, those principles require the NAAC website to:

  • Indicate the author or authors’ qualifications
  • Cite the sources and publish dates for all medical content
  • Back up claims relating to benefits and performance of treatment
  • Support, rather than replace, the doctor-patient relationship
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of visitors
  • Provide easily accessible contact information
  • Identify funding sources
  • Clearly distinguish advertising from editorial content

NAAC’s website, www.anemia.org, regularly publishes new articles, free e-newsletters, event listings and general content related to anemia. NAAC also provides patients, consumers and medical professionals with information sheets, feature articles on a variety of topics, reviews of current research and treatment trends, health tips, FAQ's, an “ask the expert” service, and more.

The National Anemia Action Council, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization of anemia experts dedicated to raising the awareness of healthcare professionals and the public regarding the prevalence, symptoms, consequences, and treatment options of anemia. NAAC aims to improve the lives of people with anemia by providing quality information to educate patients, consumers, medical professionals, writers and researchers.
