The National Anemia Action Council (NAAC) recently contributed the article “Managing Anemia and Symptoms of Fatigue” to the September issue of Kidney Beginnings: The Magazine, from the American Association for Kidney Patients (AAKP).

The article, written for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), explains how anemia can develop as a result of CKD, describes the symptoms and diagnosis of anemia, and provides advice about how to properly manage anemia with your healthcare team. Contributing authors and NAAC anemia experts, Dr. Bradley Warady and Dr. Paul Crawford shared their expertise with the magazine to encourage readers to take control of their anemia symptoms and care.

Kidney Beginnings: The Magazine is mailed to about 65,000 subscribers each month and the September issue was also distributed at AAKP's 2009 Annual Convention in Denver, CO. The article is available in a PDF version of the magazine on AAKP’s website.

The American Association of Kidney Patients is a national nonprofit kidney patient organization reaching one million patients, family members, renal professionals and friends affected by kidney disease. Formed 40 years ago, the AAKP uses educational and supportive programs to improve the lives of fellow kidney patients and their families by helping them to deal with the physical, emotional and social impact of kidney disease.

NAAC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing expert, in-depth information about anemia to medical professionals, patients, caregivers, students, researchers, writers and the media. Dedicated to raising awareness of the prevalence, symptoms, consequences, and treatment options of anemia through education, the organization offers many services on its website, www.anemia.org.
